The City of Edmonton’s environmental strategic plan, “The Way We Green”, has been awarded the 2012 Environment Award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, and the Outstanding Achievement award from the 2012 Minister's Award for Municipal Excellence by the Government of Alberta.
The Nature Conservancy is working to acquire Bunchberry Meadows, “is one of the last largest blocks of increasingly rare wilderness near the city of Edmonton.”
The Bunchberry Meadows area is recognized as being so important to future generations that the current owners have agreed to let the parcel of land go for half of it’s appraised value, so that means The Nature Conservancy wiil need to raise around $4,000,000.00 by December in order to acquire the property.
